Australian Soprano Joanna Cole has performed regularly Nationally and Internationally and has earned a reputation for her technique, musicality and the power, sweetness and clarity of her voice. Joanna also brings to her performances a finely honed sense of dramatic skills and is in much demand for Opera, Recitals and Oratorio.
Her operatic performances include: For Opera Australia: Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, Concert to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Marriage Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge, Countess in Marriage of Figaro, Gilda in Rigoletto, Title role in Lucia Di Lammermoor, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Leila in Pearl Fishers, Micaela in Carmen, Morgana in Alcina, Iris in Semele, Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Italian Soprano in Capriccio, Strawberry Seller and French Girl in Death in Venice, Katchen in Werther, Helena in the Ascension of Robert Flau and in 2002 she received great acclaim for her creation and portrayal of the title role Lindy in the world premiere performances of the opera based on the story of Lindy Chamberlain and the disappearance of Azaria, which led to her nomination for a 2003 Helpmann Award. Joanna is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and was a member of Opera Australia’s Esso Young Artist Development Program. She has been the recipient of many awards including the Remy Martin Opera Australia Award, Bull Fellowship, Marianne Mathy Australian Singing Competition, Joan Sutherland Society Scholarship, and was also granted a Churchill Fellowship for excellence in Bel Canto. Joanna is an Ambassador for Osteoporosis Australia.
