Stephen moved to Australia to study at the Queensland Conservatorium in Brisbane. Here he performed Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and Frank Maurrant in Street Scene, Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro and also toured as Asterburg in Student Prince with the Lyric Opera of Queensland. Stephen continued touring for the next six years with Phantom of the Opera playing a vaiety of roles. He eventually settled in Melbourne and has since broadened his performing experience into film and television. He returned to opera in 2006 performing Frosch in Die Fledermaus and Masetto in Don Giovanni with Melbourne Opera. In 2007 Stephen sang the title role in Sweeney Todd with Dandenong Theatre Company, and in 2008 sang the role of Antonio in The Marriage of Figaro with Melbourne Opera. |

Stephen began singing from an early age in school choirs. He continued to develop this interest throughout school and university and eventually toured the world with the National New Zealand Youth Choir. On tour in London Stephen saw his frst opera and was hooked from that moment. Returning to Auckland New Zealand Stephen joined Mercury Opera, singing roles in several operas, including the New Zealand premiere of Sweeney Todd.
