Roger Howell
Roger Howell3Welsh born, Roger Howell is a graduate from the School of Opera and Music Theatre at the NSW Conservatorium of Music in Sydney. He made his professional debut with the State Opera of South Australia as Figaro in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro”- a role he has sung many times since.
Roger has worked with all the state opera companies as well as the national company, Opera Australia, over the course of his long career. His performing repertoire includes over sixty roles and includes favourites such as the title roles in Verdi’s ”Rigoletto” and “Macbeth”, Escamillo in Bizet’s “Carmen”, Figaro in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, Sancho Pansa in Massenet’s “Don Quichotte”, Leporello in Mozart’s, “Don Giovanni”, the title role in Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi”, as well as Sharpless in “Madama Butterfly”.
A few highlights have been making his debut in New York singing the title role of Rossini’s “Guglielmo Tell” with the Opera Orchestra of New York under the baton of Eve Queller, dining with Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the royal yacht ‘Brittania’, and fathering three wonderful sons!
A founding Board Member of MOC, Roger has been able to contribute to the Company’s ongoing success  as  both performer and mentor of young performers. Dr. Bartolo is Roger’s  debut in this role for MOC but becomes the eighth role he has performed for the Company.
