Geoffrey Harris began his training in Sydney with Isolde Hill and spent three years as a young artist with Opera Australia. He has studied voice production and singing with renowned teachers including Ettore Campogagliani(Mantova), Clemens Kaiser-Breme (Essen,) and with his maestro of the last 20 years Fernando Bandera (Milano). In 1996 he travelled to Germany to take up the Bayreuth Fellowship awarded by the German government. Geoffrey’s work has encompassed most of the tenor repertoire. He appears regularly in leading roles in opera throughout Australia and New Zealand and as a soloist in concert and oratorio with the various Australian Symphony Orchestras. He has performed many leading roles in works by 20th century and contemporary composers often involving world and Australian premier productions. Opera Australia: Don Jose in Carmen, Radames in Aida, Otello and Cassio in Otello, Rodolfo in La Bohame, Melot in Tristan und Isolde, Steersman in Die Fliegende Hollander, Red Whiskers in Billy Budd, Bob Boles in Peter Grimes, Vitek in The Makropoulos Secret, Don Basilio/Don Curzio in Figaro, Remendado in Carmen, Pang in Turandot, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Beppo in Fra Diavolo, Riccardo in Triumph of Honour as well as various other smaller roles. Most recently Geoffrey performed the role of Ismaele in the Sydney and Melbourne seasons of Nabucco.
