
Simon Meadows studied at The VCA) graduating with a BA(Music) and then going on to do a Grad Dip(Opera). He performed in recitals and sang roles in Opera Studio productions including The Speaker and 2nd Armed Man in Mozart’s "The Magic Flute", Guglielmo in "Cosi fan Tutte", Marco in Puccini’s "Gianni Schicchi"and Tchelio in Prokofiev’s "The Love of Three Oranges".
Roles for Opera Australia include The Gaoler in Puccini’s "Tosca", and the Messenger in Verdi’s "La Traviata", Claudio in Berlioz’ "Beatrice and Benedict", Ko Ko in Gilbert and Sullivan’s "Mikado", and Don Alhambra in "The Gondoliers".
Roles for other companies include Figaro in Rossini’s "Barber of Seville", Dancairo and Morales in Bizet’s "Carmen", Silvio in "I Pagliacci" by Leoncavallo, Tarquinius and Junius in Britten’s "Rape of Lucretia" and Marullo in Verdi’s "Rigoletto", Marcello in Puccini’s "La Boheme" and Demetrius in Brittens "A Midsummer nights Dream".
Simon has performed David in Samuel Barber’s "A Hand of Bridge" and for Chambermade, he portrayed the World War One British Poet Rupert Brooke in Nicholas Vines’ Green Room Award winning world premier Opera "The Hive".
For Victorian Opera, his roles have included Musiklehrer in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, Jimmy in Stuart Greenbaum’s "The Parrot Factory and has just been working on a collaboration with the Australian Ballet singing the Baritone solo in Faure’s Requiem.
For Melbourne Opera roles include Marullo in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Guglielmo, Figaro(Barber of Seville) and Cascada in Lehar’s The Merry Widow.
Concert engagements have included Dvorak’s Te Deum and dramatic Cantata "The Spectres Bride", Schubert’s Mass in G, Bach’s "Wachet Auf" cantata,Mozart’s Requiem, Orff’s "Carmina Burana, Handel’s "Messiah", Haydn’s "Nelson Mass", Vaughan Williams’ "Five Mystical Songs","A Sea Symphony" and, "Serenade to Music", Mahler’s "Kindertotenlieder" ,Beethoven’s "Choral Fantasia".
