Raymond Lawrence

Raymond began studying piano at the age of 5 and went on to study composition at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music under renowned Australian composer Gerard Brophy. Raymond’s affinity with voices led him to be engaged as Assistant Conductor for the Queensland Conservatorium’s production of Britten’s Albert Herring. He has subsequently conducted performances of his own compositions ’Les Nuit’ for Chamber Orchestra and soloists and his operatic scene ’Medea’. He was subsequently engaged as the Young Artist Repetiteur for Opera Queensland, as well as Musical Director of the Moving Opera! Program and Hansel and Gretel tour. Raymond has travelled to London, Germany and Italy for further study and works extensively as a vocal coach and accompanist. At the beginning of 2011 Raymond took up the position of Head of Music for Melbourne Opera.
