
Barbara was born in Melbourne. She holds a Bachelor of Music, Honours (Victorian College of the Arts) and Masters of Music (Guildhall School of Music and Drama UK).
She has won the Athenaeum Award, Murray Ormond Vagg Scholarsip, Mabel Kent Estate Scholarship, and the Margaret Sutherland Bursary Award. In 2004 she was a finalist in the Australian Singing Competition, where she won the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Award, which enabled her to travel to London UK to complete Masters of Music under scholarship. She then remained in London to work for Opera on the Run in 2007, touring the new operatic comedy Spaghetti Opera in the role of Mrs Flambe.
Her operatic repertoire includes the roles of Patience in Patience (Savoy Opera Company Sep 2004), Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte (In Good Company March 2005), Lover in Il Tabarro (GSMD June 2006), Medoro in Orlando and Tamiri in Mozart’s Il Re Pastore (Lyric Opera of Melbourne April 2008).
Oratorio engagements include soloist in Mendelsohn’s Elijah (Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Society) and Vivaldi’s Gloria (Box Hill Chorale).
In July Barbara will sing in the semi-finals of the Mietta Song Recital Award and in the finals of the Italian Opera Scholarship (Opera Foundation Australia).
